Congolese community of Victoria Inc.

Congolese Community of Victoria is a not-for-profit organisation created by Victorians of Congolese background. The main purpose is to help each other, protect, maintain, preserve and promote the culture, heritage, language, interest and history of the Congolese people in Australia.

CCV is opened to everyone and represents the hopes and aspirations of those people who are united by their common bond of Congolese heritage and Australian commitment. We sincerely request and urge every man and woman of Congolese background  to show their support by joining CCV and contribute in any way they can. 

Here are some of the associations objectives:

  • To promote the General Welfare and advancement of members of the association.

  • Promote contact and communication between our members and the people of Australia.

  • Give and receive mutual support and cooperation between and among other ethnic groups in Australia

  • Promote Social, Cultural, Educational and other mutually beneficial exchange between Australia and our members.

  • Cooperate with central and local government, agencies and voluntary organizations in the promotion of their objectives.

  • Help and support the settlement of Congolese migrants and refugees arriving in Victoria.

 

Newly arrived migrants 

  • Building a strong community of newly arrived Congolese migrants and provides them with an opportunity to live in a closer, supportive and harmonious environment. There is a significant number of migrants who fled war and are thus going through significant psychological issues.

  • Advocating on behalf of newly arrived migrants to enable them to have easy access to main stream services.

  • Providing legal, health, Centrelink information and housing information and guidance to newly arrived migrants in order to assist them through their settlement process in Victoria.

Youth  

  • Working in one-to-one relationship with young Congolese people, assisting them to investigate future life directions, training or employment opportunities.

  • Creating a practical learning program for young Congolese people who have left school early or are thinking of doing so by assisting them to access alternative education and training options.  There will be an emphasis on developing confidence and self-esteem.

Women

  • Building stronger Congolese women community links and supports for women and girls, empowering them to improve their own wellbeing by giving them appropriate health information. Advocating for women and improve health services through professional development in hospital and across the Victoria state.

  • Empowering Congolese women in all realm of life so that they can make informed decisions in different aspect of life and undertake leadership roles to be well integrated in Australia.                                             


If your are interested in joining CCV ?

Just remember that you have the option to choose between:   Ordinary membership, Associate membership or Honorary membership.

  • Ordinary membership is opened to every person of Congolese background living in Victoria and their families without distinction as to gender, language, religion or province of origin, and who subscribe to the objectives of the association. There are two categories of membership to choose from: Financial Ordinary Members and Non-Financial Members. Financial Ordinary Members shall be entitled to enjoy the full rights and privileges of the Association, including the right to vote at meetings.

  • Associate membership is opened to individuals and institutions in Australia, which subscribe and demonstrate commitment to the objectives of the association.

  • Honorary membership is opened to persons of distinctions who have rendered services to Democratic Republic of Congo or to the Congolese Community of Victoria Inc.
